Shelved under Baby Modeling

I got a call from the modeling agency – looks like CootieGirl made it through the first cut. They have asked her back for the second round on December 4th. Hopefully at that point they’ll fish or cut bait.

The one good thing about yesterday is that a LOT of the babies I saw were very similar looking: dark hair, dark eyelashes out to HERE, and vibrant blue eyes. Very striking-looking, but they all had that, which meant that they didn’t really stand out.

CootieGirl was the only redhead in a room of 40+ babies (while I was there for the first 45 minutes – the open call went on for another 2 hours after I left). That stands out, I guess, even though there were some BEAUTIFUL babies there yesterday.

So we’ll see what happens – but it could be fun if she actually gets this ad!

Here is some unadulterated info about CootieGirl’s first modeling appointment earlier. This is from two e-mails that CootieMom quickly sent me about CootieGirl’s day today. I think they may have liked her enough to want to hire her, but we’ll see.

Well, we were number 16 of x number of babies (No idea how many will be there in the end). I was there at 2:05 p.m. and out by 2:38 p.m.

CootieGirl did well – was about the only redhead I saw while I was there. The modeling scouts said she is the perfect size for what they are looking for. They put a hat on her and loved the way she didn’t try to pull it off. They took a polaroid and loved the way her red hair peeked out from the hat in the picture.

So we’ll see. I don’t know how much they gushed with the other babies, but they certainly seemed excited about CootieGirl.

There seemd to be a lot of “regulars” – moms who recognized each other. So I guess I’ll start seeing the same women over and over again.

Didn’t see a Dad in the bunch. =)

She’s now here with me (at work) — just finished a bottle and is now playing with my Jr. Asparagus doll. Hopefully she’ll fall asleep soon so that I can actually get some work done.

There were definitely some CUTE CUTE kids there – very exotic looking kids. Some others were not so cute, but in their ugliness I could see modeling potential (quirky babies).

I think this was for a Lord/Taylor ad — that’s what I overhead another mom saying.

We have been very busy. Vacations, home stuff, work, everything. But here is a new pic for you to enjoy. I’m sure they’ll be more.

Okay, I know you’re sick of seeing the same old pics. You need new pics. Well, here you go. The first is of CootieGirland her great grandmother, Florence, who turns 90 in a few days. CootieMom and CootieGirl visited her last weekend on their way down to N.C. The other pic I took today. I bought CootieGirla cool winter cap. And it was half price too.

I’m going away to Florida for a few days, so you’re going to have to live off of these pics for awhile. Enjoy.

Shelved under CootieGirl's Activities

Today I took CootieGirl into Manhattan to meet with a modeling agent, and the agent that specifically works with babies loved CootieGirl. CootieGirlwas on her best behavior and quite lively, which they liked. They also liked almost all the pictures I took of her, and asked us to create a 4×11 card with three of the better photos. Then we’ll send them ten, keep ten, and go from there. They said they only have 10 infant girls that they send out for jobs, and CootieGirl will be the only redhead, so she’ll “stand out” from the pack. Woo Hoo!

I just got a call from CootieMom. She and CootieGirlfinished their meeting with Funny Face modeling and things went very well. She said the woman who represents kids her age loved her. CootieGirl was at her best and loved the woman as well. She also said that they have 10 girls in her age range but none of them are red heads. Whoo Hoo!!!

We have to put together a one-sheet with three of her photos which they picked out, send them ten and keep ten, then let the jobs roll in. They represent models of all ages, do print ads, commercials, catalogs, magazines, etc. She said while she was there there was a call from Comedy Central looking for someone to play an angry elf in a spot and The Gap called too.

We could be witnessing the start of something big. CootieGirl is going to support us and we can just kick back and watch her shine. Not really, but this could be very interesting.

I’m sure CootieMom will fill in all the blanks, but just wanted to let you know it went well. They were even going to send her out for a job today but they wanted a Puerto Rican baby. We’ll keep you informed on how this all plays out.

Updated June 2004: Please note that I cannot in any way help your child get into modeling, so there’s no need to comment or email me about helping you get your child into the profession.

CootieGirl is miserable sick with a cold and CootieMom is away in California this weekend, but we certainly took plenty of great photos. She is so photogenic. Who would not want her to represent your modeling agency? Crazy.

Our neighbors Don and Lydia invited CootieGirland me over for dinner. Pork chops and stuffed baked potato. Very yummy. CootieGirlhad a bottle, but she wanted what was on my plate.

Anyway, CootieMom should be home in about two hours. CootieGirl is asleep in her bouncey beside me right now. Hope you all had a great weekend. Enjoy.
