Shelved under Cootiegirl's Development

CootieDad and I just sat and watched a bunch of video that we’ve recorded of CootieGirl since we brought her home a few weeks ago. It’s amazing how much she’s changed just since April 24! Her head is definitely much larger, she can control her hands much more now, and she’s showing more of her personality.

She smiles in response to our voices now, which is a wonderful feeling. Today we had a good 10-15 minutes of her interaction with us: cooing, smiling, generally being a happy baby. It was fun to watch her. After that 10-15 minutes she got cranky, so we let her go to sleep – she was wiped out from playing with us.

Well, I finally got all of the CootieGirl-centric posts from Cootiehog moved to Cootiepie. Now all CootieGirl posts will be here instead of at Cootiehog so that I can go back to talking about tv, movies and all that non-important stuff that made Cootiehog the place you love to visit.

Okay, so I’m still trying to figure out how to make this webpage for CootieGirl a little more personalized. Have changed the stylesheet to one with more pizzazz, but hope to continue making it better.

My sister and her family came for a visit this afternoon. Andrew and I played ball in the backyard, while Peter kept CootieGirl and the adults company. And baby CootieGirlslept through most of it. She was a little angel the whole time.

I’ve been up since 4:53 this morning. An anyone else without babies say that? And she’s crying again. So that makes two of us who’ve been up since that time. Let me try to quiet her down… She’s over tired. She’s asleep again. That was easy. Just a gentle rock, but I’m sure she’ll be up again in a few seconds.

We think they are baby rabbits. But now looking at this picture I’m leaning towards squirrels. Either way, they are cute. What do you think? Any rodent experts out there?

Shelved under CootieGirl's Activities

Sorry I haven’t posted sooner, but today has been a busy day and I can’t believe it’s already 4:05 p.m.!

First up: American Idol picks for tonight. Hate to say it, but unless the Clay Aiken diehards called in last night, I think he’s going home. Kimberly was outstanding, Rooo-ben was good, and Clay was good but had BAD songs – poor guy. VINCENT? That song sucked even when Don MacLean did it the first time. And MACK THE KNIFE? C’mon judges – even I know that’s a bad song choice. I personally love the song, but it DOES NOT belong on American Idol.

Second: Buffy. I don’t think I’ve been so UNDERwhelmed about a season coming to an end. Much less a SERIES. There are so many loose ends that the writers need to tie up in next week’s final episode that it’s beyond me how they’ll even do it. *sigh* It’s all Firefly’s fault – Fox had to give Joss Whedon ANOTHER show that divided his time even more from his most important show. And what’s horrible is that with each show Joss is not improving. Buffy has always been a stellar show. Then we got Angel, which was good in Season One but then slowly started sucking. Then both of those shows totally began sucking when Joss got Firefly – which was a HORRIBLE show from day one. Hopefully now that Buffy is off the air Joss will get back to concentrating on Angel and turn that show around – it’s lucky it got renewed for another season.

Third: The picture that CootieDad posted a couple days ago of the baby chipmunks in our backyard are not baby chipmunks. Turns out they are jackrabbits. Last year jackrabbits ate my flowers, but I’m looking forward to seeing these little guys grow. Two of them crawled out of the hole last night and were wobbling around the flower bed on tender little feet before returning to the fold. SCootieGirlcute.

Fourth: Today I took CootieGirl for a walk in the stroller. I took Cooper with us and we went once around the block. Then I dropped Cooper off at home and CootieGirl and I took a turn around another block. All total we walked (well, I walked, she rolled) about 45 minutes. Not bad!

It’s only 11:34 a.m. and I already feel the day escaping me. I’ve been up since 8:20 a.m., and the only things I’ve managed to do are empty & load the dishwasher, feed CootieGirl and get her down for a nap, have a bowl of cereal, rejoin Weight Watchers Online, take my first round of meds, fill four bottles for future CootieGirl feedings, make a call and send an email about adding CootieGirl to my health insurance, and catch 10 minutes of The People’s Court. Seems like a lot, but it really should have all been done within an hour, not three.

I have to go take a shower before CootieGirl wakes up for her 12:30 p.m. feeding. It’s cloudy and cool outside, but I may go ahead and bundle up CootieGirl in the stroller and go for a walk around the block before it begins raining this afternoon. Then when the rain begins and I’m trapped inside I can begin working on the latest batch of Thank You notes we have to send out for the numerous gifts we’ve received for CootieGirl. People’s generosity knows no bounds!

Yesterday was a nice Mom’s Day for me. I got to see “X-Men 2″, which was just as good as the original – in some ways better. I can’t wait for “X-Men 3″ to be made. They should have filmed it at the same time as “X-Men 2″, like they did with “LOTR” and “The Matrix”. *sigh* And you remember how I worship James Marsters’ pretty little hip bone? Well, I realized yesterday that I also worship Hugh Jackman’s left eyebrow. It’s sexy as all get out.

And speaking of crappy movies (”The Matrix”, that is), CootieDad and I have had a bad run recently with our Netflix movie choices. “Igby Goes Down” sucked. And I rented Ingmar Bergman’s “The Seventh Seal”, which is supposed to be a classic. We turned it off after 10 minutes. Pure garbage. You know it’s bad when you watch “Blue Crush” and think, Hey, that was pretty good.

Auntie Gladys, CootieMom and Ace went to see the X-Men sequel. I stayed home and baby sat. CootieGirland I had a good time. It would have been better if she hadn’t spit up most of her lunch on me, but that’s the way it goes some times.

Gladys came back to visit with her new niece, and she loved her. Who wouldn’t? Here I am again, about to print out some more photos. This time for CootieMom’s scrap book and for frames to sit on my desk at work. Then it’s the Survivor finale tonight.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

You know it’s gonna be a great day when your husband lets you sleep for nearly 12 hours. That’s just what CootieDad did for me last night. I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. when he agreed to do CootieGirl’s 11 p.m. feeding. I woke up briefly at 3:00 a.m. to feed CootieGirl, and was back in bed by 4 a.m. Imagine my surprise when I woke up again and discovered it was 9:15 a.m.! I felt completely regenerated from the general exhaustion that I’ve been feeling the past couple of weeks.

Then this afternoon when Gladball called to say she wasn’t coming over, I watched a movie (”Blue Crush” – I have SCootieGirlmany movie reviews to add to my reviews page) then hopped in bed. We confirmed that CootieGirl was asleep for the afternoon and CootieDad followed me into bed where we each slept for another four hours. HOW GREAT IS THAT? I got up around 5 p.m. when CootieGirl began fussing, and let CootieDad sleep another hour.

Sleep. It’s a good thing.
